Aim

The importance of living up to your responsibility

Training Camp

Good morning everyone – I’m so glad you were able to join us today at our training camp on your school trip! I hope you’ve been enjoying yourselves so far. I don’t know if any of you watched much of the Olympics in 2008, but you may remember we had high hopes of a medal in our mixed doubles with Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson. Unfortunately the Chinese were just too good for them. However we now have an exciting new pairing, Adam and Eve. We don’t want just any old medal do we boys and girls? No, we want gold!

So Adam and Eve, you know you are our greatest hopes of a gold medal in 2012. You know how much I believe in you both. You have a great work ethic and I know that you can achieve this goal. I have spent years coaching people in this game, and I can honestly say that you are the best! I have great faith that you will bring home that gold medal! I know that you will do this for me – it will be the pinnacle of my career….to know that I had a part to play in your success!! Go off and practice and make me proud!

Post Practice

Adam: Goodness me, it doesn’t get any easier, does it?

Eve: I’m absolutely shattered!

Adam: Do you know, I’m beginning to get a bit worried? What if we don’t manage to bring home the gold? I feel so responsible for the happiness of coach, our families and our fans…..

Eve: You’re so right. The pressure is getting to me…if only we could be sure that we would succeed…

Bystander: Good morning….I couldn’t help overhearing you… it just so happens that I might be able to help you…I have a little something that could guarantee you gold medal success… if you’re interested that is? Coach wants you to win a gold medal and I’m sure wants whatever it takes to achieve that goal. You owe it to him. He has worked all his life for this.

Eve: Coach wants a fair playing field…

Bystander: Did Coach tell you that you could not take supplements? 100% natural, no artificial additives…..just magnifies your God-given talents….

Eve: Well…they look alright….

Gold medal ceremony

Eve: What a match that was!! I feel just fantastic!

Adam: We did it… we won the gold! Coach looked so happy!

Announcer: And representing Great Britain, the gold medal goes to Adam and Eve

(National Anthem and flag)

Newspaper headlines

Adam and Eve hang heads in shame…

Announcer: You have been exposed as cheats. You have brought the good name of your coach and sport into disrepute. You have embarrassed your country. You are responsible for destroying your own reputation and you are responsible for setting an atrocious example to young people everywhere who had hoped to emulate your achievements…. You are unworthy and a disgrace – (rips off medals)

Let us hope that we don’t have anything like that happen in 2012! Some of you might have picked up on the link to a Bible story?
