Aim

Help children to value the Bible and know that God speaks to us through it

Doing good does not always mean no opposition

Children bring forward Bible, Candle, then Bible reciting meaning.(Jesus died and rose again)

Recap using headline cards as link to last time Birth/Stories/Prayer/ Miracles. Wonderful things Jesus did because He loved us, ask children what stories they know of things Jesus did.

There was a storm on the lake, Jesus stopped it

Zaccheus – Jesus noticed a very small man, his life changed

Lame man (pool of Bethesda) Jesus healed him

Feeding of 5000 – food enough for so many, Jesus cares

You'd think that everyone would think that Jesus was marvellous and want to follow him, wouldn't you? But it wasn't quite like that.

People when Jesus lived had special and very strict ways of doing things. Jesus didn't always do things the same way!

Enter 3 'Pharisees'

"Did you see what he did?"

"He said he's specially sent from God!"

"He healed that man's hand and it was Sunday when we don't work!"

"He talks and eats with people who've done terrible things! Yes, with thieves and liars and cheats!"

in fact the Pharisees hated Jesus so much that they began plotting to kill him!

Reflection

Jesus loves us, showed his care, but some hated him, lead to Good Friday – Jesus died, but at Easter he rose again.
