Aim

To show that Jesus modelled tolerance of his disciples as an example for us to follow.

Introduction, Welcome

Interaction with the children about pros and cons of friends – even if your friends really wind you up you’re usually still friends with them

The group hold up long strip of lining paper and to record children’s suggestions of pros and cons – gradually leads into bickering about who wants to write and who’s fed up with holding the paper

Who’s got the most important job here?

Retelling of Mark 10: 33-37

Who is the Greatest? include mention of the tolerance that Jesus displayed towards his friends in the face of extreme provocation

Reflection

Time to think about a friend who may have annoyed you in some way – write their name or draw a picture of them on the palm of your hand with your finger – take a moment to think of them and to let go of all the bad feelings that you’ve got inside towards them – maybe brush all those bad feelings away from your hand.
