Aim

Why do we have rules?

Discussion

Discussion about rules and regulations- at home, at school in the library on the roads (or anywhere you like) Why do we have rules?

For – Health and Safety

Moses

A long long time ago in a far distant land God gave His people good rules to live by. The man God chose to give these rules to was our man in Egypt MOSES

God called Moses up to the mountain. He wanted to talk to Moses. The mountain shook. A thick cloud covered it. There was thunder and lightning. God had come to the mountain in the cloud. Moses went up the mountain. He talked with God. God told Moses the rules he wanted to give to his people.

We have hidden these rules with some of you when I call out the number bring that rule with you (wait until the rule comes out before saying it)
They are Number -

  1. Love God only
  2. Don’t make a model of what you think God looks like
  3. Don’t swear
  4. Have a day off a week from work
  5. Respect your mum and dad
  6. Don’t kill
  7. Don’t commit adultery
  8. Don’t nick anything
  9. Don’t tell lies
  10. Don’t long for someone else’s things

I wonder how many of these rules you can keep in this next month and perhaps we will ask you to share how easy or hard it was when we see you next month.

Song

Great Big God

Reflection

If everybody kept All these rules All the time we would see a much better world. I don’t know about you but I might find it difficult to keep ALL of them ALL of the time. Especially if you don’t keep them all all of the time. These rules are to show us how far we are away from God’s standard. He knows we won’t keep them all, All of the time but as Christians we believe He has a plan and as we go through this term we will discover what that plan is.

Prayer

I just want to say a short prayer and if you agree say Amen at the end.

Thank you God for the rules you gave us to live by help us to do our best to keep them so that everyone can live happily and safely.

Amen
