Introduction

Happy New Year children, have any of you made any New Year resolutions? Lets find out if the Acts 2 team made any.

Drama

Person 1: (pretending to be driving to Lugwardine, lots of traffic and every one seem to be on go-slow.) “Don't these people have anywhere to go, beep, beep get out of the way I'm late. I've got to get to the school I'm taking Acts2. Oh dear I'm not supposed to be getting cross I made a New Years Resolution not to get road rage anymore.”

Person 2 enters from the back of the room dressed in a tracksuit: “Oh! This getting fit is more difficult than I thought its hard work. But I must keep trying because it's my New Years Resolution. I will just do it gently and build it up. “

Person 1:” Have you jogged from home? I've jogged from the car its and hard work. I’m all hot and bothered.”

Person 3: (who has lots of layers on and a pillow stuck up her jumper) “Oh dear me I have put on such a lot of weight over Christmas, nothing fits me. I decided to make a New Year's Resolution to lose all this weight. I am going to be really strict with myself. “

Person 2 (to Person 3): "I brought you a bar of chocolate because I didn't see you over Christmas; it's your favourite Cadbury's Dairy milk."

Person 3: “Thank you but I’m on a strict diet, I really must lose all this weight.”

Person 2: “You can have just a few squares.”

Person 3: “Oh I suppose a couple of squares won't hurt”

Person 1 eats one square then another before she realizes it's all gone.

Person 4: “Where have you lot been? Why were you all late? I arrived very early and you know we need to be here early to prepare. You lot are hopeless and I don't know why you bothered to make New Year Resolutions, you have all broken them. And because you guys are so hopeless you have made me break my New Year's Resolution. I promised myself to be patient and calm. “

Person 5: Well children what a disaster, they have all broken their New Years Resolutions, things are not going well are they? They all set out to be better but what happened'? (Forgot, gave up.)

They didn't what? (Persevere I persist)
Jesus told one of his special stories all about persevering.

Luke 18: 2-5

Here it is. It's called the story of the persistent widow. Luke 18 V2-5..

Person 5: Jesus said to his followers that even the rotten judge had to listen in the end. So how much more will God, who loves you, help when you ask him?

Jesus says, "Don't quit, Get the children to work out that persevere means go on, go on, go on, “

Prayer.

Help us father to always do our best to persevere with your help, and always remember that because you love us you will always help us to go on Amen.

Close with a few minutes listening to some music, (Be still my soul)
