Aim

To tell the Easter story

Easter's coming!

What is coming up? Easter. Easter eggs/hot cross buns!

We are Going to tell the Easter story with your help!! We’ve got some props to help us and I also want you to try and spot bits in the story where co-operation takes place

Donkey prop

Jesus was close to Jerusalem and said to two of his friends: “Go ahead and in the next village you will find a donkey tied up which has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it to me. If anyone asks what you’re doing, tell them that I sent you.” The friends brought the donkey back for Jesus and they set off for Jerusalem for the Passover feast.

Palm prop

People were crowding into Jerusalem and as soon as they heard Jesus was coming, they came out to meet him. Some cut branches from palm trees and they shouted: Here comes God’s King, praise God.

Purse prop

Two days before Passover, Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve close friends of Jesus went to see the chief priests. He was all mixed up and had expected Jesus to lead a revolt against the occupying Romans…he was ready to betray him and was paid thirty silver coins to do so.

Pitcher prop

Jesus was asked where they would be celebrating the Passover meal. Jesus said: Go into the city and when you see a man carrying a jar of water, follow him to his house. There is an upstairs room where we can have our meal together.

Towel prop

That evening, before they sat down to eat their special last supper, Jesus took a towel, poured some water into a basin and began to wash their feet. This was a servant’s job, and the disciples were shocked. Jesus explained: You must be willing to serve one another, just as I have served you.

Flowers prop

After supper, Jesus and his friends went to a garden. Judas was not with them. Jesus needed to draw strength from God because of the hard thing that he had to do.

Cross prop

Jesus and his friends could hear people coming..the temple guards and chief priests led by Judas, had come to arrest him. Judas went up to Jesus and kissed him. Jesus was arrested.

Nail prop

Jesus was sentenced to death and crucified

Cross prop

Jesus died and was put into a tomb, it was sealed and guarded

Tomb prop

The next day when the friends of Jesus came to the tomb….it was empty!! What had happened? Where was he? An angel said: Jesus is alive!! Everybody say it!!

So, I wonder how many times did you spot parts of the story where co-operation took place?
