Aim

To show that relationships are about friends, family, and the everyday people that we meet. Encouraging us to realize the value of responsibility. This is what Jesus had to say in the story of the Good Samaritan.

Introduction

Good morning children – can anyone remember what topic we covered last month? That’s right the story of the feeding of the Five Thousand

Drama

Six children to help.
# Doctor: apron
# Policeman: helmet
# Hairdresser: hairdryer, scissor @ comb
# Fireman: helmet
# Postman: jacket

Invite the children to identify their jobs (children can return to sit down)

Question: In a community we all have neighbours. Who is your neighbour?
Someone asked Jesus that same question…. He told them a story….

Story – The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37)

Player 1: The stranger who gets beaten up.
Player 2: Robber
Player 3: using 3 different hats walks back and forth as, priest, Levite, Samaritan, and then leads stranger off.

Story Teller: Well children one day a long time ago a man was walking along the road when some thieves crept up behind him knocked him to the ground they took all his possessions. They beat him up so badly that he couldn’t move they left him for dead.

Very soon a priest came along the same road, and when he saw the man, he crossed over to the other side of the road and left the poor man laying there suffering in pain.

Then came a Levite, but sadly children he also crossed over the road and didn’t help the wounded man.

Then along came a Samaritan, as he traveled along the road he saw the man, and took pity on him. He went over and bandaged the mans wounds, he poured oil on and gave the man a drink. Then he put the man on his donkey and took him to an inn and asked the man in charge to look after the man and feed him. He gave the innkeeper two silver coins to pay for the mans needs. Please look after him and when l return l will reimburse you for any extras you may have.

Reflection

Well children who do you think was a good neighbour?

Do you think we have a responsibility to help people in need?

Well children Jesus wants us to treat others, as we would like them to treat us.

Sometimes we can help by doing small things, being helpful to someone in our street, perhaps someone old, we can be helpful to our parents our teacher, our friends, our brothers and sisters. We can also be helpful in our community whether we know folk or not, whether they are like us or not. What Jesus is telling us in this story is that everyone is our neighbour.

Song

When l needed a neighbour were you there?

Prayer

Jesus help us to think of how we can be good neighbours and good friends, help us to be responsible for our actions and how we treat each other Amen.
