Aim
To demonstrate that friendship works best when there is trust and forgiveness
Welcome
Welcome, good to be back, half-term, getting ready for summer. Looks as though our friend (P1) is looking a bit miserable over there, do you want to see if she’s ok, P2? She is your friend
Improvised sketch on what P2 had said about P1’s netball skills behind her back, ending up with unresolved situation and bad feeling.
[Engage directly with children taking suggestions on what the two could have done to put things right if they had wanted to stay friends]
Peter's denial of Jesus
Bible story from Luke 22 and John 21 of Peter’s denial of Jesus and his restoration to relationship with Him on the beach – emphasising the point that Jesus actually looked back at Peter, emphasising that He had heard Peter’s denial, just as predicted, and Peter knew this.
Reflection
Let’s just take a quiet moment to think about friends-
Friends are important, aren’t they?
But sometimes even our closest friends let us down and that really hurts
But to have a good friend you need to be a good friend and as we heard in the story, perhaps true friendship involves being ready to forgive.
