Aim
tasks are easier to accomplish with help
Obstacle Course
Ask for 4 volunteers who would like to take part in a race (and who don’t mind being blindfolded).
Unaided each child attempts the course consisting of:
- A chair to crawl under
- Stepping into a hula hoop and passing it over their head
- Sticking BlueTac onto a balloon face
- Standing on one leg on a small piece of paper
Ask for 4 more volunteers.
The children then attempt the course again but this time with someone to help by:
- Giving them directions to the chair
- Guiding them to the hula hoop
- Holding the paper cup nearer the ball
- Holding their hand whilst they balance on one leg.
Thank children and ask them to sit down.
Reflection
Emphasise how much easier it was to complete the course with someone helping and by following their directions.
Talk about a bible character who achieved success only when they co-operated with God.
Explain that in life we will come across obstacles but that it is easier to overcome them when we ask God to help and we co-operate with him.
